96-year-old Man, Three others Die in Sheema Accident

SHEEMA – Four individuals have lost their lives in a tragic accident on the Mbarara -Kasese highway in Sheema District.

Among the deceased were Kakooza Kasim from Wakiso District, Rukwengye Eria (96) from Mitooma District, Keinerugaba James (8), and Ssemboze George (69) from Rwebikoona-Mbarara City.

Additionally, four others, including Mushabe Jolly, Atuhaire, Abasi Edgar, and Natamba Simon, sustained injuries.

The collision involved two vehicles, a Toyota Fielder (UBK 919X) driven by Kakooza Kasim and a Mitsubishi Canter pickup (UAJ 337R) driven by Ssemboze George. The accident occurred around 07:00 AM at kinaaku-Kyenkokora along the Mbarara-Kasese Highway when Kasim attempted to avoid stagnant water, swerving into the path of Ssemboze George’s oncoming vehicle.

The bodies were taken to Kabwohe Health Center IV mortuary for postmortem, while the injured were rushed to the same facility for treatment.

The Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, Martial Tumusiime, reported that both vehicles await inspection at the Sheema police yard, and the scene has been investigated by ASP Mugisha Canicius and the traffic team.
