KABALE: Rwandan Man Rams into a trailer, Dies at Katuna Border

KABALE – A 38-year-old Rwandan national has rammed into a trailer and lost his life at the Katuna border in Katuna Town Council, Kabale District.

The deceased, identified as Nsengyiyumva Emmanuel from Gicumbi/Rubaya, Rwanda, met his untimely demise in the incident.

According to CPL Tumwebaze Herbert, a police officer attached to traffic and residing at Kabale Police Barracks in Kabale Municipality, the accident occurred around 9:30 AM today.

Tumwebaze recounted that at the URA Parking in Katuna border, a trailer with registration number KBF 211S/ZC 4317 was moving from Katuna towards Gatuna border in Rwanda at a moderate speed when Nsengyiyumva collided with it, resulting in his fatal injuries.

Elly Maate, the spokesperson for Kigezi Region Police, confirmed the incident, stating that a casefile for a fatal accident (Kabale TAR 013/2024) was initially registered but later transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) after preliminary evidence suggested that the collision might have been intentional.

Maate explained that the fatal accident case was reclassified as a suicide investigation (CRB 140/2024), prompting further scrutiny.

The crime scene was meticulously examined, documented, and relevant statements were obtained.

The body of the deceased was recovered and transported to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem examination.
