Australian Charged with Rape and Human Trafficking

KAMPALA – The Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Department of the CID Headquarters in Kampala, in collaboration with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), has brought charges against a foreign national for the heinous crimes of rape and human trafficking.

The accused, identified as Jones Robert Williams, hailing from Australia, holds the position of Managing Director at Jinja Marine Supplies Co. Ltd. Williams was arraigned before the Jinja Chief Magistrates Court on charges of rape and human trafficking.

Ugandan law unequivocally condemns human trafficking and sexual abuse as deplorable and unacceptable offenses. SCP Fred Enanga, the Uganda Police Spokesperson, revealed that Williams exploited his female employees, coercing them into engaging in sexual intercourse under the threat of dismissal from their jobs.

Enanga also disclosed that Williams subjected his victims to group sexual encounters and instructed them to perform sexual acts, sometimes using sex toys, while recording these distressing moments on video. Numerous videos were uncovered during the investigation, some of which were shared on specialized websites for profit.

Enanga stated, “As the police and ODPP, we remain steadfast in our commitment to investigate and vigorously prosecute human traffickers and sexual predators, with the primary goal of securing justice for the victims. We will relentlessly pursue those who manipulate, exploit, and abuse vulnerable individuals for personal gain. This case exemplifies our unwavering dedication and cooperation in eradicating these despicable crimes from our community.”

The charges brought against Jones Robert Williams underscore the serious nature of these offenses and emphasize the determination of the authorities to ensure justice is served for the victims.
