KISORO – The former aspirant for the position of Kisoro district woman MP, Juliet Musanase on Wednesday was remanded to Kisoro Government Prison on charges related to aggravated child trafficking.
Musanase voluntarily presented herself at Kisoro Central Police Station on Wednesday morning and was swiftly taken to the Chief Magistrate Court, presided over by His Worship Kenneth Komakech, for case mention.
In the court proceedings, Musanase was not given the opportunity to enter a plea, as the resident state attorney was unavailable. Consequently, she was remanded to Kisoro Government Prison, with her next appearance scheduled for the 21st of December for case mention.
The charges against Musanase stem from the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act, 2009 (7) (6), which stipulates that a person who, while knowing or having reason to believe that another person is a victim of trafficking, engages the labor or services of that victim in that status, commits an offense and is subject to imprisonment for ten years.
