Government Vehicle Knocks Juvenile Dead in Kisoro

KISORO: Police in Kisoro district is investigating circumstances under which a ministry of defence motor vehicle knocked dead a juvenile aged 8 years at Kisoro – Kabale highway

Elly Maate the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson identified the deceased as  William Matovu male aged 08 years resident of Mukarango village in Kanaba sub county Kisoro district.

Maate said that motor vehicle registration number UG 0227D Toyota Land cruiser army green in color which belongs to the Secretary ministry of defence  James Mutabazi which was driven by  Emmanuel Habimana of Kamwanyi Portbel Nakawa division Kampala,

It’s alleged that today  02/01/2023 at around 09:40 am in the morning at Mukarango village while the motor vehicle was from Kisoro side heading to Kabale, met the victim crossing the road at a short distance and collided the deceased

ASP Maate narrated that the juvenile was  being rushed to Mutolere hospital, he was pronounced dead shortly.

Scene was visited by Asp Kushaba Michael District Traffic Officer and team, sketch plan drawn and postmortem was done

Driver was issued with a police form for the inspection of the motor vehicle while investigation still ongoing

The case of  fatal accident was registered at Kisoro Central Police station under reference number TAR : 01/2023
