KANUNGU – Police in Kanungu District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Teopista Tibabuza, a 77-year-old resident of Group Farm Cell in Kibiimbiri Parish, Kihihi Sub County, Kanungu District.
Her lifeless body was discovered in her bed by Pastor Tumugabe Gerald during a fellowship visit.The discovery took place yesterday around midday at Group Farm B Cell.
Pastor Gerald found her home locked, and the compound was not swept. Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, confirmed that the report was filed by John Mugisha, her son-in-law.
The body was found lying on the left side at the edge of the bed, in a clear position, with a swollen eye, bruises, and fresh scratch marks indicative of strangulation on the neck.
Maate mentioned that the crime scene was examined, a postmortem was conducted on-site, and the body was subsequently handed over to relatives for a proper burial.
Maate says that investigations have been initiated, with ongoing inquiries to shed light on the circumstances surrounding her tragic demise.
