WAKISO – Police in Nansana Division, Wakiso District have rescued a 26-year-old man named Kasirye Faizo, a bricklayer from Kazinga – Nsumbi, who attempted suicide by burning after being rejected by a married woman with 3 children, Namakula Nally Deborah.
It’s alleged that Kasirye had been stalking Namakula for years, despite her being in a relationship with Ssenabulya Michael.
On 23.07.2023, around 11 pm, Kasirye’s advances were again rejected by Namakula when she was with her friends at the Kamukamu bar for a music show.
After the show, Namakula took a boda boda and returned home, the following day, 24.07.2023, residents found Kasirye had set himself on fire using paraffin in an attempt to end his life due to the rejection. He was rescued and taken to Mulago Hospital by Kyebando police.
Uganda Police spokesperson, SCP Fred Enanga, condemned and discouraged such actions, urging people to recognize the value of their own lives and find ways to heal from emotions caused by love rejections or breakups.
Enanga revealed that Kasirye will face court charges once he is discharged from the hospital.
