KAMPALA – Police in Kampala have apprehended a fraudster, identified as 20-year-old Seguya Abdu Kareem, alias Fresh Kareem, for distributing counterfeit UNEB examination papers on social media.
The suspect, a 2020 UCE candidate, confessed to altering past papers to make them appear as 2023 exams, aiming to gain a larger online following despite being in the building and construction field.
Kareem faces charges of aiding examination malpractice and unauthorized possession of exam materials.
In a related incident, Old Kampala Police arrested Luyima Gilbert, 49, for allegedly selling fake UNEB exam materials.
The Head Teacher of Old Kampala Senior Secondary School, Mr. Suuna William, was also detained, accused of intending to purchase the counterfeit materials. Investigations into both cases are ongoing, with authorities pursuing those still at large.
Under Section 25 (2) of the UNEB Act 2021, individuals assisting candidates in obtaining unauthorized exam materials face fines up to forty million shillings or a maximum ten-year imprisonment upon conviction.
