Two Arrested Following Suspicious Murder of Unidentified Man

KISORO – Police in Kisoro District have apprehended two individuals to aid in the ongoing investigation regarding the death of an unidentified adult male.

The individual is believed to have been strangled to death by an unknown assailant. The lifeless body was discovered on August 22, 2023, around 4:00 PM, at Zindiro village, Kamonye ward, in the Northern Division of Kisoro Municipality.

The suspects, identified as Dusimimana Oliver, a 37-year-old Mufumbira, and her son Iragire Moses, an 18-year-old Mufumbira, both residents of Zindiro village, Kamonye ward, Northern Division, Kisoro Municipality, have been taken into custody for questioning.

Reportedly, on the aforementioned date and time, a concerned member of the public contacted the authorities to report a deceased adult male found in the aforementioned village. In response, the police promptly arrived at the scene, discover the lifeless body with apparent facial injuries.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi region Police spokesperson, stated that the crime scene was meticulously examined and documented by a team led by Deputy Assistant Superintendent of Police (D/ASP) Tuhabwe Robert, along with canine unit officers. The body, which had begun to decompose, was subsequently transported to Kisoro Hospital mortuary to facilitate a postmortem examination.

The tragic incident has led to the filing of a Murder case at Kisoro Central Police Station, registered under reference number CRB 576/2023.
