Two Arrested with Road Sign posts in Kabale

KABALE – Police in Kabale District has apprehended two suspects for the alleged Vandalism and Theft of Road Furniture in Kabale Municipality.

The suspects, identified as Nicholas Amanya (22) and Martin Ainamani, both employed at Sabena Washing Bay in Rwakaraba Cell, Northern Division of Kabale Municipality, were apprehended red-handed during a morning operation at 10:00 AM.

According to Elly Maate, the spokesperson for the Kigezi region police, the arrests were made based on intelligence gathered, indicating the suspects’ involvement in cutting down road furniture with the intention of selling the materials to scrap dealers.

Maate emphasized that such operations will persist to tackle the increasing incidents of vandalism and theft, which include not only road furniture but also streetlight solar systems within the municipality. The stolen items, he noted, were destined for the illegal scrap market.

Maate said that the arrested suspects, Nicholas Amanya and Martin Ainamani, will face legal proceedings and be brought before the courts of law. Maate concluded by underscoring the commitment of law enforcement to maintaining the security and integrity of public infrastructure in Kabale Municipality.
