KAMPALA – Police have recorded several cases of domestic violence, an ongoing concern in the community, with a focus on female victims and the elderly.

On the night of 11.10.2023, at Kateramo trading center, he fatally attacked his wife Kyomugisha Annet, aged 23, with a panga. The couple had been living together without conflict since February 2023.
The victim’s 4-year-old son, Anderson, discovered his mother’s lifeless body and informed a neighbor, Kemigisha Shillah.
The police recovered the panga, and the victim’s body was taken to Rwakabenga HC III for post-mortem.In Ssezibwa Region and Buvuma district,
Malekwa Majid, a 45-year-old peasant, is in custody for allegedly murdering his wife, Nalumansi Asia, aged 40, with a panga during a disagreement in the forest on 10.10.2023. The suspect left the victim’s body in the forest.
Kampala Metropolitan Police and Naggalama division police have detained Kyeswa Yusuf for the alleged murder of his stepmother, Nakanwagi Kevina. The motive was theft of Ugx 3m entrusted to the victim by his father.
The suspect dumped the body in a pit latrine in Nakyeeke village, Mukono district, and a hoe was recovered.
In Rwenzori West and Fortportal North, two suspects are in custody for strangling Mwesige Peter, a 42-year-old boda boda rider. The incident occurred on 14.10.2023.
The suspects, Kobusinge Winnie and Musinguzi Bernardo, were transporting the deceased’s motorcycle along the river bank. The victim’s body was retrieved from the river Mpanga.
In Greater Bushenyi and Bushenyi Central Police Station, Police are searching for Byaruhanga Richard, a 23-year-old, for assaulting and murdering his grandmother, Anyesi Tiberebwa, aged 96, on 14.10.2023.
The suspect attacked the victim in her bedroom, causing her to hit her head on the floor. Efforts to arrest him are underway.
In Mityana, Kibuuka is in custody for attempting to murder his father, Mugerwa Fred, and his sister, Nakanjako Christine, aged 38, on 14.10.2023. A neighbor, Zaveri, who intervened, was also injured.
The suspect claimed they did not share proceeds from land they sold. The police recovered the used panga.
SCP Fred Enanga, the Uganda Police spokesperson says that Police are committed to ensuring perpetrators are charged, and those at large are tracked down and brought to justice.
