Woman Kills Husband Over Shs 200,000 in Kapchorwa

KAPCHORWA – Police in Kapchorwa District have apprehended Juliet Chelangat, a 43-year-old resident of Waror village, Tegeres sub-county, for allegedly assaulting and causing the death of her husband, Namawangala Stephen, aged 40.

The incident occurred after he stole her cash savings of Ugx 200,000=, meant for their children’s school fees, and failed to reimburse it.

Chelangat withdrew the money on 4.10.2023, and her husband spent it on alcohol despite promising to repay it on 9.10.2023.

A heated quarrel ensued around 11 pm, resulting in a fight where Chelangat pushed her husband, rendering him unconscious. He succumbed while being rushed to Kapchorwa Hospital.

Chelangat is now in custody, facing murder charges.

In Nabilatuk district, the police and UPDF are actively searching for L/CPL Ruhuriza Michael of Lopetageit detach, under the 49 Battalion. He is accused of fatally shooting Irama Mercy, his cohabiting partner for the past 5 months, over the theft of his cash Ugx 150,000=, part of a loan from Wazalendo SACCO.
