KAMPALA – Police in Kampala have reported that City House Kampala, which was engulfed in fire, resulting in one fatality, is deemed unsafe for occupancy and will be temporarily closed.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, revealed that a devastating fire broke out at City House around 9:00 AM.
Unfortunately, the identity of the deceased is yet to be determined, and the body has been transported to the City Mortuary Mulago for a comprehensive postmortem examination.
“After the valiant efforts of the Fire Prevention and Rescue services, the blaze has been successfully extinguished, preventing further escalation,” stated Owoyesigyire.
An immediate investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
Owoyesigyire assured the public that the investigation’s findings would be promptly communicated.
Expressing condolences to the deceased’s family, Owoyesigyire said, “We kindly request the public’s cooperation during this challenging time as we work to open roads near the incident. The building itself is unsafe and will be closed until further notice. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.”
