RUBANDA – State Minister of Finance (General Duties), Henry Musasizi Ariganyira, has announced the government’s intention to asphalt the 47 Km Hamurwa – Keerere – Kanungu road.
Minister Musasizi, who also serves as the Rubanda East Member of Parliament and Rubanda District NRM Chairman, shared this plan on Tuesday during the Sendoff ceremony of Ms. Maricela Kanjenyenka at Mukadongo Village, Mpungu Parish, Hamurwa Sub County.
The late Kanjenyenka, who passed away at the age of 102, leaves behind a legacy with 28 grandchildren and 68 great-grandchildren.
Minister Musasizi outlined the government’s vision for the road infrastructure, stating, “Our plan is to pave the road from Hamurwa to Kihiihi in Kanungu in the near future.”
He further disclosed that the government had already allocated Shs. 500 million for the repair of the damaged section of the road at “Hakagyezi.”
Additionally, an estimated 3 billion will be invested in the rehabilitation of the damaged segment of the Kabale – Kisoro road at Hamurwa.
The Rubanda District LC.5 Chairman, Stephen Kasyaba, reported that they had commenced utilizing the recently received Shs. 1.5 billion from the Central Government for road maintenance, including the Rwondo – Nyakatare route in Hamurwa Sub County.
He further revealed that upcoming repairs would focus on the Kashongati – Nyamasizi road, also within Hamurwa Subcounty.
Kasyaba clarified, “The tractor you’ve seen at Rwondo is from Ruhiija Subcounty, where we have also been engaged in road works. Now, we are commencing works at Rwondo.”
He emphasized that the primary objective was to facilitate easy transportation of agricultural products and other trade items to the market centers, thus enhancing local economic activities.
