NTUNGAMO – Authorities in Ntungamo district have embarked on a significant infrastructure project, initiating road works valued at 110 million shillings.
The comprehensive road improvement project covers the 11.2-kilometer Nyakisa-Zeituni-Kabumba road. The project entails a range of tasks such as clearing bushes, laying gravel, establishing proper drainage systems, and constructing sturdy head walls at culvert locations.
During the project’s inauguration at Zeituni Bridge last Week on Friday, Samuel Muchunguzi Rwakigooba, the chairperson of Ntungamo district, underscored that these road enhancements are designed to provide valuable support to local residents. The improved roads will enable easier transportation of agricultural products to markets and grant better access to various essential services.

Charles Kusemererwa, the Acting Ntungamo district engineer, assured that the engineering team is fully prepared to execute the project efficiently and within the stipulated timeline. The overarching objective is to enhance connectivity between the subcounties of Nyabushenyi and Nyabihooko.
Yoram Bashaija, the chairperson of the local council in Nyabushenyi, expressed immense relief on behalf of the local populace regarding the initiative to upgrade the roads, particularly the pivotal Zeituni Bridge.

The launch event witnessed the presence of various stakeholders, including members of the district executive committee, local councilors representing Nyabushenyi and Nyabihoko sub counties, three local council chairpersons, religious leaders, and enthusiastic members of the community.
