RUBANDA – The Rubanda District Council on Wednesday unanimously called for the immediate interdiction of Benon Kahangi, the beleaguered Production and Marketing Officer.
The decision follows revelations of his alleged masterminding of the misappropriation of over Shs 200 million and involvement in extensive financial impropriety, including sophisticated forgeries.
During the heated debate, Kenneth Muhindi, representing Ikumba Sub County, emphasized the urgency of Kahangi stepping aside to prevent tampering with crucial evidence during ongoing investigations.
Stephen Ampeire Kasyaba, the LC 5 Chairperson for Rubanda District, expressed dismay over the chaotic state of Kahangi’s office, underscoring the need to address the disarray.
The dissatisfaction with Kahangi’s conduct extended to accusations of cash mismanagement, falsification of signatures, and documents, leading to the siphoning of public resources.
Additionally, it was revealed that extension workers within the district planned a demonstration at the district headquarters to protest the alleged misappropriation of funds under Kahangi’s supervision.
In response to the mounting discontent, the council unanimously recommended Kahangi’s immediate interdiction to facilitate a thorough investigation into the alleged financial malpractice and extensive forgeries attributed to him.
