KABALE – Kabale district legislators have expressed concerns over the escalating issues of early marriage, defilement, and alcoholism among the youth in the region.
These apprehensions were articulated today during the confirmation ceremony for 604 Confirmants into the Catholic faith at Christ the King Parish in Kabale, situated within the Kabale diocese. The event, officiated by the Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Rt Rev Callist Rubaramira, took place at the Kabale municipal stadium in Kabale district.
Honorable Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira, the parliamentary representative for women in Kabale district, emphasized the rising incidents of early marriages, defilement, and early pregnancies, particularly in the Kigezi region.
She underscored that even boys are falling victim to defilement by older women, adversely impacting their future. Ndamira urged parents to take a proactive role in safeguarding their children.

During his homily, Bishop Rubaramira urged Christians to shun discrimination and religious persecution, emphasizing that we are all creations of the same God.
He encouraged Christians to draw closer to God, asserting that only through this connection could they hope to effect positive change in the world, rather than succumbing to the pressures of the world.
