Kabale Woman MP Urges Students to Avoid Hasty Marriages, Emphasizes Focus on Education

KABALE – The Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Catheline Atwakiire Ndamira, delivered a thoughtful message during the 2nd graduation ceremony of 33 students at the Divine Mercy Vocational Training Institute Nyanja Maziiba, which took place at the Nyanja Catholic Church in Maziiba Sub-County, Kabale District.

The speech was read on her behalf by her political assistant, Mr. Alex Akampurila.

 

In her address, Hon. Atwakiire cautioned students against rushing into marriage, as she observed that hasty marriages often result in breakups. She emphasized the importance of prioritizing education before considering marriage to avoid encountering numerous challenges later on.

 

Hon. Atwakiire highlighted that many students tend to be influenced by peer groups and make impulsive decisions about marriage without fully focusing on their educational background. As a consequence, they may face difficulties and obstacles that could have been avoided with better planning and preparation.

During the same ceremony, the Director of Divine Mercy, Sister Angelina Tukamushaba, expressed the institute’s commitment to equipping young girls with diverse skills that can empower them to generate income and lead independent lives.

 

The event was presided over by Reverend Father Kiwanuka Achilles, the parish priest of Maziiba, who graced the occasion with his presence and support.

 

Overall, the graduation ceremony served as a platform to inspire and encourage students to invest in their education and future, and to be mindful of their decisions, especially when it comes to marriage.

 

The Divine Mercy Vocational Training Institute continues to play a crucial role in empowering young girls with valuable skills, providing them with the tools they need to lead fulfilling and successful lives.
