Elderly Rally for Improved Rural Healthcare Accessibility in Kabale

KABALE – Elderly residents of Ntungamo Village in Katenga Parish, Kaharo Sub County, Kabale District, are urging the government to extend essential services, particularly in healthcare, to rural areas for increased public accessibility.

This appeal was voiced yesterday during a one-day event, the 1000 Miles Project, organized by the Rotaract Club of Bugolobi in Kampala at Ntungamo Primary School in Katenga Parish.

The event, which included a free medical camp and tree planting, aimed to benefit 1000 patients, with an overwhelming response from around 1000 participants. As part of their contribution, the Rotaract Club also distributed scholastic materials to primary seven candidates at Ntungamo Primary School.

Joy Kamitumba, Richard Tumwijukye, and Magret Tushemerierwe, all elderly individuals who benefited from the medical camp, emphasized the need for the government to adequately equip health centers with sufficient medical supplies. They also requested the extension of free medical services to the public, emphasizing the positive impact it would have on the community.

Rabbecca Atukunda, the President of the Rotaract Club of Bugolobi, echoed the sentiments of the elderly individuals. She emphasized that prioritizing the extension of free medical services by the government would result in the public receiving more comprehensive medical attention.
