Rubanda Woman MP Hopeful Katabazi Donates Medical Supplies to Health Facility

RUBANDA – Yesterday, the Rubanda District Hopeful Woman Member of Parliament, Ms Jacqueline Katabazi, demonstrated her commitment to community health by generously donating a variety of medical supplies to Butare Health Centre II in Mukatojo Town Council, Rubanda District.

The occasion marked the official commissioning of the newly constructed building at the Butare Church of Uganda-founded health facility by Diocese of Kigezi Bishop Gaddie Akanjuna.

Among the essential items contributed by Ms. Katabazi were boxes of cannulas, surgical gloves, cotton, syringes, iodine, and more. This thoughtful gesture was aimed at expediting the commencement of operations at the health facility, bringing much-needed medical services to the local community.

Speaking about her motivation for supporting the health facility, Ms. Katabazi expressed a deep connection to the community, especially Rurembo Village, where she resides and has marital ties. Her goal is to assist the church in making healthcare more accessible to the people of Mukatojo Town Council.

In addition to the medical supplies, Ms. Katabazi also donated UgX One Million to support the painting of the newly completed building at the health facility.

The Diocese of Kigezi’s Health Board Chairperson, Mr. Paddy Mwesigye, and the Diocesan Health Coordinator, Ms. Grace Natukunda, received the donated items. They, in turn, contributed two blood pressure machines and a glucometer for measuring blood glucose. Mr. Mwesigye further announced that Rugarama Hospital in Kabale District would contribute a delivery bed to enhance the health facility’s capabilities.

During the event, Bishop Gaddie Akanjuna offered a heartfelt prayer, extending blessings to the Church, Ms. Jacqueline Katabazi, and all those who generously contributed money or medical materials. The collective efforts aim to kick start the operations of Butare Health Centre II, promising improved healthcare services for the local community.
