NRM CAUCUS: President Museveni Advocates For Strategic Rationalization to Save Trillions

KAMPALA – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, also the National Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), convened with the party’s parliamentary caucus at State House, Entebbe on Friday, February 2, 2024.

The meeting centered around discussions on the Rationalization of Government Agencies and Public Expenditure (RAPEX).

“This subject we are dealing with is strategic. If you don’t address strategic issues correctly, problems arise; answering them correctly leads to success,” he emphasized.

President Museveni informed caucus members that implementing rationalization now could save Shs1 trillion annually.

“When we talk of rationalization, we mean making rational decisions to save money.”

He stressed that the government’s structure should support wealth creators during rationalization, identifying commercial farmers, manufacturers, service providers, and ICT as vital contributors to the country’s development.

President Museveni urged legislators to support wealth creation by promoting the four key sectors of the economy among the people they serve.

Government Chief Whip and Chairperson of the NRM Parliamentary caucus, Hon. Denis Hamson Obua, expressed caucus support for the rationalization of government agencies and public expenditure through sector-specific legislation in Parliament.

During the same meeting, Bukoto South MP, Hon. Twaha Kagabo, a member of the opposition-National Unity Platform (NUP), pledged to collaborate with the ruling party for the betterment of the people he serves.
