Rukungiri Man Murdered, Secretly Buried By Family Members.

RUKUNGIRI:

The territorial police in Rukungiri district are currently investigating circumstances under which a 37 years old Rahab Turinawe a casual labourer resident of Katwekamwe cell Rwentondo ward Eastern division Rukungiri district, was allegedly murdered and buried Secretly by his own family members.

 

According to ASP Elly Maate, the the Kigezi Region Police Spokes Person on 2/12/2022, at around 1800hrs, the deceased left home to the garden to plant trees and never returned, until the 13/12/2022 when the wife one Annah Twijukye 36 years reported a case of disappearance at Rukungiri Central Police Station.

 

Maate says, Later the actions of the biological mother to the deceased identified as Barekura Annah 70 years and her other two sons Kasiime, Nabaasa Dickson and Kanyesigye Allan who immediately fled the village having sold a number of their belongings prompted the residents to suspect that they could have murdered the deceased considering their previous land conflicts.

Maate revealed that the Search was mounted by the residents until the 14/12/2022 at around 06:30pm when fresh dug soil was seen at a stone quarry surrounded by eucalyptus plantation belonging to one of the brothers Nabaasa Dickson.

 

“Upon digging to find out what could have been buried there, indeed they recovered his decomposing body, naked and wrapped in a sack and that’s when they notified police at Rukungiri Central Police Station” Maate Says.

 

“Scene was visited by the Rukungiri homicide team and documented, body was identified by the relatives and conveyed to Rwakabengo Health center Ill for postmortem” Maate Adds.

 

He stressed that inquiriesh areaare at hand to hunt for suspects so that they are brought to book.

The case of murder was registered at Rukungiri Central Police station under reference number CRB 1369/2022
