Suspected ADF Member Arrested in Kitagwenda

KITAGWENDA – Police in Kitagwenda District have apprehended Matsiko Farouk, a 27-year-old suspected ADF member residing in Kafunda cell, Ibanda Municipality.

Initially in Nyanga cell, Mahyoro sub-county, the community’s suspicions led to police intervention, resulting in Farouk’s arrest.

Farouk confessed to being kidnapped in 2015 by ADF at River Nyamwamba, Kasese District. Taken to the DRC’s Kilembe highlands, he claimed to be trained as an Intelligence Officer.

SCP Fred Enanga, Uganda Police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest, highlighting Farouk’s knowledge of Bundibugyo, Bwera, Luwero, Najjanankumbi, and his alleged escape from the California ADF Camp.

In a separate incident, Kampala police arrested Komaketch Ransur, alias Kadogo, an 18-year-old ADF remnant found with live ammunition.

Komaketch claimed recruitment at 7 years old, escaping an ADF camp in Congo to return to Uganda.

Enanga assured Ugandans that Joint Force Security remains vigilant, actively monitoring for ADF elements and remnants, emphasizing the ongoing threat they pose to both citizens and visitors.
