KAMPALA – The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party has taken decisive action by relieving Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, the Member of Parliament for Kira Municipality, of his position as whip.
The party’s General Secretary, Mr. Nandala Mafabi, articulated this change in a letter addressed to Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among. The FDC has promptly appointed Yusuf Nsibambi as the new whip, with this transition taking effect immediately, thereby succeeding Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda.
The formal communication states, “Pursuant to section 6 (I), the FDC hereby designates Hon. Yusuf Nsibambi as the Party Whip of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) in lieu of Hon. Ssemujju Ibrahim Nganda.” The release of this letter underscores the party’s commitment to refining its leadership structure.
These developments have emerged amidst internal tensions within the FDC, particularly surrounding allegations related to questionable financial transactions.
The discord initiated when Ssemujju, who also fulfills the role of party spokesperson, raised concerns about financial impropriety. He publicly accused Mafabi and party president Mr. Patrick Amuriat of accepting funds from President Museveni to support their 2021 campaign endeavors.
