KABALE – Kabale District Deputy Speaker, Ian Ronald Mugisha, has formally declared his candidacy for the position of Kabale Municipality Mayor in the upcoming 2026 elections.
As a district councilor representing the southern division within Kabale municipality, Mugisha is the second individual to express interest in challenging for the mayoral seat.
Joining the race alongside Arineitwe Sam, the LC3 Chairperson for the central division in Kabale municipality, Mugisha is determined to vie for the position currently held by the incumbent, Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha.
Making his announcement during the centenary celebrations of Our Lady of Good Shepherd Rushoroza Cathedral Parish in Kabale Municipality on Sunday, Mugisha outlined his vision for the town. He emphasized his dedication to addressing longstanding issues plaguing Kabale, such as the deplorable state of roads, ineffective garbage collection, waterlogged areas, and the pressing need for improvements in education and healthcare services.
He pledged to tackle concerns about insecurity among the residents.
Known as Coach Barca, Mugisha disclosed his decision to run under the NRM ticket, expressing confidence in his ability to bring positive change to Kabale.
