KABALE – Married couples have been advised to remain united, faithful, and loyal to each other if they want their marriage to last, as recommended by their faith.
This counsel was offered by Hon. Naturinda Eliab Mporera, the hopeful Member of Parliament for Ndorwa West, during his speech at the wedding reception of Mr. Epaphras Niwamanya, the bursar of Rukore Polytechnic School, and Mercy Namanya from Ryakarimira Town Council on Saturday.
Namanya Epaphras is a well-known businessman and an institution bursar at Rukore Polytechnic Institute, while his wife, Mercy, is a successful businesswoman.
Hon. Eliab emphasized the importance of strengthening marital bonds through faithfulness and loyalty to one’s spouse. The couple exchanged their vows at St Paul’s Rukore Church of Uganda Archdeaconry, with the ceremony officiated by Rt Rev. Gad Akanjuna, the Bishop of Kigezi Diocese.
Bishop Akanjuna emphasized the importance of following the five pillars of a successful marriage.
Bishop Akanjuna identified these five pillars as love, submissiveness, faithfulness, forgiveness, and patience. He challenged the newlyweds to build their marriage upon these principles for its betterment.
The Bishop encouraged all married couples to embrace contentment and faithfulness in their relationships, emphasizing that marriage is a divine institution.
He urged Epaphras and Mercy to center their marriage on love, effective communication, and, above all, God, recognizing Him as the ultimate author of their union, which would provide a strong foundation for a stable family.
Bishop Akanjuna stressed that marriage is the cornerstone of the home, where children are nurtured to become responsible and productive members of the community. He reminded the newlyweds that their commitment to faith in God is the key to a successful marriage.
