Abandoned Kabale-Kisoro Road Threatens Accidents & Disruptions

By Obed Kankiriho

RUBANDA – The spot section of abandoned Kabale-Kisoro Road by National Roads Authority (UNRA) at Bwara village, Hamurwa town council in Rubanda district is threatening accidents among residents and road users.

The collapse of this road section on May 4, 2023, has resulted in heavy traffic congestion on both sides. As a significant route linking Uganda to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda, its closure has prompted UNRA to divert traffic to alternative routes of 88KM Katuna-Rubaya-Muko and 20KM Kabale-Lake Bunyonyi-Kachwekano-Rubona-Heisesero roads.
