RUKUNGIRI: Police in Rukungiri District are currently hunting for suspects in connection with the alleged murder of a 58-year-old man in Buyanja Sub County.
The deceased, identified as Kashumbusha Rusiano, resided in Karushanje cell, Rubanga parish, Buyanja sub county in Rukungiri district. His body was discovered this morning at 07:30 AM along the pathway at Kashonga lower cell, Rubanga parish in Buyanja sub county.
According to a statement from the police, yesterday, at Omukatojo cell, Rubanga parish, Buyanja Sub county, Rukungiri district, the deceased attended the burial of Mrs. Tumwebaze and subsequently left for the nearby trading center of Kagarama. Later, at around 07:30 PM, he departed from the trading center towards his home.
This morning at 07:30 AM, Gerald Ahereza found the deceased’s body lying near the footpath on the farm of Ruhogo. Ahereza promptly alerted the area chairperson, Tukahirwa Narsisio, who then informed the deceased’s brother, Kayambi Gideon. Gideon, in turn, notified Agaba Rubondo, the chairman of local council 3, who reported the incident to Buyanja police.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, confirmed that a murder case was registered. The scene of the crime was visited, examined, and documented, and the deceased’s body was conveyed to Rwakabengo Health Center III mortuary for postmortem examination.
Maate urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist the police in their investigation, ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
