KISORO: Kisoro-based musician Mfitumukiza Amos, widely recognized as Swiggerman, has taken a bold step by petitioning President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni regarding an unmet promise made during the 2016 elections.

This promise pertained to a car pledged in recognition of his mobilization song, “Tumwongyere,” which gained significant traction during the electoral period.

In a letter obtained by our reporter, Mfitumukiza outlined how “Tumwongyere” resonated deeply across Uganda during the 2016 Presidential campaigns. The song, with its infectious beats and compelling lyrics, captured the attention of the populace, permeating television screens, radio waves, and campaign rallies nationwide.

President Museveni himself took notice of Mfitumukiza’s contribution during his visit to Kisoro District on November 30, 2017, during the thanksgiving ceremony for the Former Inspector General of Police, Rtd Gen Kale Kayihura, held at Ssaza ground. It was on this occasion that President Museveni pledged to give Mfitumukiza a small car as a token of appreciation for his role in producing “Tumwongyere.”

Despite the heartfelt promise made by the President, Mfitumukiza laments that the pledge remains unfulfilled to this day. He further alleges that leaders from Kisoro District have not only failed to advocate for him but have also belittled his efforts.

He says that the matter is greatly affecting his career.
