NGORA: Anna Akiror Omoding, a senior nurse at Oget-Mukura Health Centre III in Ngora District, has encouraged nurses in the Teso region to adopt a saving culture for improved livelihoods.
Akiror stressed that rather than solely depending on their modest monthly salaries, nurses and the broader medical community should explore additional avenues for enhancing their financial well-being, such as joining village savings groups.
She highlighted that, in an effort to achieve economic growth, the staff of Oget-Mukura Health Centre and their Village Health Teams (VHTs) established a savings group, which has become one of the best-performing in Ngora.
Akiror made these comments on August 18, 2024, while addressing the Mukura Health Centre III Savings Group in Mukura Town Council, Ngora District.
Richard Francis Adupu, the chairperson of the Mukura Health Centre III Savings Group, praised the members for the significant increase in savings this year, noting that a total of 26 million shillings was saved and distributed to members over the weekend.
Simon Julius Engeku, the Kapir County aspirant who provided financial support to the group, urged the management to prioritize transparency in overseeing the operations of this growing savings group to ensure its continued success.
