Chief Magistrate Swears in New Kabale District Service Commissioners

Their appointments were approved by the Public Service Commission at its 836th meeting on April 17, 2025, in accordance with Article 198(2) of the Ugandan Constitution and Section 59(2) of the Local Government Act, Cap 138.

The Chief Magistrate of Kabale, His Worship Derick Byamugisha, has officially sworn in the new members of the Kabale District Service Commission during a formal ceremony held at the district headquarters.

The newly appointed members are Bernard Tumukunde, who assumes the role of Chairperson; Jackline Njuyarwo, serving as the Woman Member; and Rev. Peace Ndyamuhaki, representing Persons with Disabilities on the commission.

They succeed former commissioners Jovan Rwamafa Rwananure (Chairperson), Beatrice Twayaga, and Christine Byabagambi. The current members Arigye Oddo and Hajji Issa Kirarira continue their terms.

During the ceremony, Chief Magistrate Byamugisha urged the new commissioners to uphold the law diligently. He cautioned that any decisions made outside legal boundaries could lead to serious legal repercussions, both for the district and for individual commissioners.

“You will be personally liable for any actions taken contrary to the law. Always seek legal guidance when in doubt,” he advised.

Kabale Chief Administrative Officer, John Asiimwe, also emphasized the importance of honesty and transparency in their work, highlighting that maintaining integrity is crucial to preserving the credibility of the commission.

Kabale District Chairperson, Nelson Nshangabasheija, warned against soliciting or accepting bribes during the recruitment process, stressing that the district’s reputation hinges on the integrity of the commission members.

In his inaugural speech, Bernard Tumukunde committed to uphold professionalism and integrity in his leadership. He issued a stern warning to the public and job seekers alike:
