The Pastoral Coordinator of Kabale Diocese, Rev. Fr. Fidelis Ndagijimana, has called on the government of Uganda to implement initiatives aimed at restoring hope among its citizens.
Rev. Fr. Ndagijimana made the appeal on Saturday during his Homily in a sharing session with thousands of Christians from Mutolere Deanery at Mutolere Parish Church in Kisoro District.
Referring to the ongoing Jubilee Year, themed “Pilgrims of Hope,” which seeks to bring solace to the hopeless and those in need, Rev. Fr. Ndagijimana proposed that government initiatives such as offering amnesty or pardons could help individuals regain confidence and a sense of purpose.
He expressed concern over the growing despair among the youth, many of whom face unemployment, job insecurity, and incomplete education.
These challenges, he said, often lead to substance abuse and other destructive behaviors.
Rev. Fr. Ndagijimana emphasized that collaboration between the Church and the government could play a vital role in bringing renewed hope to those who are struggling.
