An unidentified boda boda rider was on Monday Morning reportedly ambushed, assaulted, and had his motorcycle set ablaze by unknown assailants in Kisoro District.
The incident occurred along the Kisoro-Kabale road in Mukabira, Nyakabande Sub-County, around 6:00 AM.
The burnt remains of the motorcycle, registration number UES 203X, have alarmed local residents. Eyewitnesses say the rider sought refuge at a nearby home before being rushed to Mutorele Hospital for treatment.
The attack has sparked serious concern among the Kisoro United Boda Boda Operators (KUBO). KUBO General Secretary Batamukoraho Baker condemned the act, describing it as criminal and unacceptable. He stressed that mob justice is dangerous, illegal, and urged residents not to take the law into their own hands.
Batamukoraho revealed the rider was not a registered KUBO member and called on police to thoroughly investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice. He also urged the community to hand suspects over to authorities instead of resorting to vigilante violence.
Highlighting a rising trend of attacks on boda boda riders in Kisoro, Batamukoraho called for stronger security measures to protect them.
