Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality Mayor Richard Byaruhanga has commended primary schools in the municipality for their consistent academic performance, saying their achievements have helped the area maintain its position among the country’s best-performing municipalities.

Byaruhanga made the remarks over the weekend while presiding over a thanksgiving and dedication ceremony at Parental Care Nursery and Primary School in Bushenyi town.

Byaruhanga said the municipality had ranked first nationally in the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) for the past three years, attributing the achievement to the continued commitment of schools to academic excellence.

“The good performance of our schools has contributed greatly to the municipality’s success in national examinations,” Byaruhanga said.

The ceremony also celebrated Parental Care Nursery and Primary School’s achievements in academics and co-curricular activities. The school emerged first in this year’s national Music, Dance and Drama (MDD) competitions and topped Bushenyi District in the 2025 PLE examinations, recording a pass rate of 98 per cent.

The religious leaders urged the pupils to avoid panic, read questions carefully and ensure they understood what was required before writing their answers.

“Be confident and take your time to read and understand each question before answering. Avoid rushing because this can lead to mistakes,” they told the candidates.

The school director, Elivaidah Nshemerirwe, commended parents for entrusting the school with their children and supporting their education.
