Pastor Robert Kayanja of Miracle Centre Cathedral has spoken out about the homosexuality-related court case involving people he says he once helped, claiming that individuals he picked from the streets and employed in Karamoja have now turned against him.

Kayanja made the remarks while addressing the legal dispute, presenting himself as someone who had previously offered assistance and employment to some of the people now involved in the case.

“I picked them from the streets, but they turned against me,” Kayanja said, according to the account of his remarks.

The pastor also disputed the suggestion that he was the one who initiated the legal action against him, insisting that he was the person who took the matter to court rather than the other way around.

Kayanja further alleged that fellow pastor Jackson Ssenyonga was paying the legal fees of the individuals involved in the case. However, the allegation against Ssenyonga has not been independently established, and no response from him was provided in the account of Kayanja’s remarks.

The claim should therefore be treated as an allegation rather than an established fact.

The disagreement between Kayanja and Ssenyonga comes against the background of years of tension and public exchanges between the two pastors, whose differences have periodically attracted attention within Uganda’s religious community.

Kayanja maintained that he believes the truth will eventually emerge, expressing confidence that God will vindicate him as the court proceedings continue. The case remains a subject of public interest, with the competing claims and legal arguments requiring careful examination through the judicial process.

As proceedings continue, the court will be responsible for determining the relevant legal issues based on the evidence presented. Allegations made by any of the parties should not be treated as proof of wrongdoing unless established through the appropriate legal process.

Further details about the latest court proceedings, including the specific charges, the status of the case and any response from Ssenyonga or the other individuals involved, were not immediately available.
