The Anti-Corruption Court has granted bail to former Ntare School head teacher Jimmy Turyagyenda, who is facing charges of abuse of office and causing government a financial loss of Shs110.8 million.
Turyagyenda, 63, was granted a cash bail of Shs5 million by Principal Magistrate Christopher Opit after presenting substantial sureties and proof that he had transferred part of the money allegedly owed to the government to the Inspectorate of Government (IGG) Asset Recovery Bank Account.
He was jointly charged with the current Ntare School head teacher, Saul Rwampororo, and Peace Kebirungi, a former office typist at the school, over alleged abuse of office and causing a financial loss of Shs110,877,900.
However, Turyagyenda denied the charges when he appeared before the court.
The court directed him to return on November 20, 2026, for further proceedings.
Meanwhile, Rwampororo, who is currently out on IGG bond, was expected to appear before the Inspectorate of Government on Tuesday to record a charge and caution statement but failed to turn up.
Kebirungi appeared before the IGG but reportedly left before recording her statement.
The case stems from investigations into alleged financial impropriety at Ntare School, with the three accused persons facing charges relating to the alleged loss of public funds.
