RUKIGA – Police in Rukiga District are investigating the death of a 22-year-old man, Isaac Niwenshaba, in Kamwezi Sub-county.
Niwenshaba, a resident of Kiruhira Call, Kashekye Parish, Kamwezi Sub-county, Rukiga District, was allegedly involved in the theft of cows.
According to the police statement, yesterday at 08:00 Am in Nyamihanga Cell, Karorwa Parish, Bukinda Sub-county, Rukiga District, Niwenshaba and others were apprehended with suspected stolen cows.
The mob reportedly beat Niwenshaba to a coma while his accomplices fled. He was rushed to Kamwezi Health Center IV but succumbed to his injuries around 11:30 AM.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, stated that the police were notified, the scene was visited and documented, a postmortem was conducted at Kamwezi Health Center IV, and the body was handed over to the relatives for burial.
