Airtel Uganda on Monday officially commissioned the Mutolere Tower Camp in Mutolere Parish, Nyakabande Sub-county, Kisoro District, as part of its continued efforts to expand network coverage and enhance digital connectivity in rural communities.
The newly installed tower, with a coverage radius of 10 kilometers, is expected to significantly improve mobile network access and digital services for residents in the surrounding areas. Speaking at the launch, Airtel’s Regional Business Manager, Paul Emwondu, reiterated the company’s commitment to empowering local communities through reliable connectivity. He encouraged residents to utilize services such as Airtel Money, SIM card registration, and other Airtel-related business opportunities as a pathway to reducing unemployment.
Airtel Field Engineer Anthony Sekanjako emphasized the tower’s technical capabilities, noting it supports 2G, 3G, and 4G networks operating at full capacity. He also cautioned the public against unauthorized access to the tower premises, warning that any trespassing would be handled as a police matter.
Hakizimana Henry Junior, the local area chairperson, also hailed Airtel for the infrastructural investment, pledging full support from the community in maintaining security around the tower installation.
Presiding over the launch, Kisoro Municipality Mayor Richard Ndyana commended Airtel for its commitment to enhancing service delivery in the district. He also urged the telecom company to extend similar infrastructure to other underserved areas and continue partnering with local government in development initiatives.
