A group of 42 pilgrims from Kabale Diocese has arrived in Lisbon, Portugal, as part of their Jubilee Year Pilgrimage to the Vatican.
The pilgrims, who landed on Friday, are set to visit several significant religious sites during their journey. According to the Diocese Director of Social Communications, Salivino Mubangizi, their itinerary includes a visit to Fatima, the revered site where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared to three shepherd children.
From there, the group will proceed to the Vatican, where they are expected to have an audience with Pope Leo XIV and visit the four major Basilicas.
“Our 42 diocesan pilgrims have safely arrived in Lisbon, Portugal, on their Jubilee Year Pilgrimage to the Vatican. They will visit Fatima before proceeding to Rome for an audience with the Holy Father and to pray at the four major Basilicas,” Mubangizi said.
The pilgrimage is part of the Catholic Church’s Jubilee Year celebrations, which encourage the faithful to seek renewal in faith through prayer, penance, and visits to sacred sites.
