The Minister of Finance (General Duties), Hon. Henry Musasizi, has cautioned political opportunists against mixing politics with development, urging them instead to offer constructive solutions if they are capable.
Minister Musasizi’s warning comes in response to criticism from Kenneth Jogo Biryabarema, the former LC5 Chairperson of Rubanda District, who accused the government of neglecting road infrastructure in the area. Biryabarema specifically cited the flood-prone section along the 47-kilometer Kerere–Kanungu road in Hamurwa Sub-county, Rubanda East Constituency.
While addressing congregants at Kashongati Catholic Church where he donated 200 iron sheets for roofing and later at Rwabunde Church of Uganda where he also donated 183 iron sheets on Sunday, Minsiter Musasizi dismissed Biryabarema’s claims. He asserted that the government has not ignored the issue and denied that four years have passed without any action.
However, Minister Musasizi acknowledged the recurring flooding at the road toll section, explaining that he has already informed the Ministry of Works and Transport. He assured the public that the problem will be addressed once the rainy season ends.
He further revealed that the government is planning to construct a permanent bridge at the flood-prone spot after the Kerere–Kanungu road is tarmacked in the future.
