Hundreds Mourn the Unexpected Death of Natukunda Rodgers in Rukungiri

RUKUNGIRI: On Friday, hundreds of mourners gathered in Rwerere Town Council, Rukungiri District, to bid a final farewell to Natukunda Rodgers, the brother of Amanya Andrew, the Hope Radio Station Manager in Kabale.

Rodgers, who passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, was also the son of the late Rev. Wilson Turinawe. His burial took place at the family’s ancestral home in Rwerere.

During the funeral, Gift Turinawe Julius, Rodgers’ elder brother, delivered a heartfelt speech on behalf of the family.

He urged family members and relatives to remain strong in their faith and to resist the influence of negativity during these challenging times. He emphasized the importance of seeking strength and guidance from God.

Kirabo Magrete, the widow, described her late husband as a devout and hardworking man who deeply loved his family. She recounted how Rodgers began feeling unwell on Monday, complaining of stomach pains and fatigue.

Despite administering medication at home, his condition worsened by Wednesday morning. Despite her efforts to seek medical help, Rodgers passed away suddenly before reaching the hospital.

Rev. Caleb Karabamu, a priest from Nyakagyeme C.O.U Parish and the main preacher at the funeral, expressed sorrow over Rodgers’ passing, particularly at a time when his family and the community needed him most.

He praised Rodgers for his consistent support of the church and advised the widow to trust in God’s plan, rejecting any speculation about the cause of death.

Rev. Karabamu also urged everyone to prepare spiritually for their own time of passing to ensure entry into the Kingdom of God.

Rodgers is survived by his widow and three children, including one daughter. It is alleged that he had been battling kidney failure and ulcers, though these conditions were not believed to be severe. Born in 1974, Natukunda Rodgers was 50 years old at the time of his death.
