
KABALE: Authorities at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital are currently stuck with an unidentified body retrieved from the depths of Lake Bunyonyi.
The discovery of the body occurred when it was yesterday spotted floating along the shores of Lake Bunyonyi at Butahe village, Rutenga Parish, Kamuganguzi Subcounty in Kabale District. The local authorities were promptly alerted to the situation by Kitaburaza Francis, the chairman of Nyabyumba village, who contacted the Officer in Charge (OC) of Kamuganguzi Police. Subsequently, the Deputy Criminal Investigations Division (DCID) of Kabale Central Police Station was informed.
Elly Maate, the spokesperson for the Kigezi regional police, disclosed that a homicide team was swiftly dispatched to the scene. With the assistance of the marine police unit, the body was successfully retrieved and transported to the mortuary at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital, where it awaits a postmortem examination.
Maate emphasized that investigations are currently underway, urging anyone with information about a missing person to visit the hospital mortuary for possible identification and arrangement for a respectful burial.
