Kasese Police Assures Tight Security Ahead of National World Tourism Day Celebration

KASESE: Police in Kasese District have assured the public of tight security in preparation for the upcoming World Tourism Day celebrations.

The event, which will take place this Friday, will host the national ceremony under the theme “Tourism and Peace.” President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to officiate at the function, which will be held at Nyakasanga Playground in Nyamwamba Division, Kasese Municipality.

SP Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed that security measures will be enhanced to ensure the event’s success.

SP Tumushime made these remarks earlier today while addressing residents and members of civil society organizations who had gathered for a general cleaning exercise in Kasese Town ahead of the event.

He emphasized that the police, alongside other security agencies, are committed to ensuring a peaceful commemoration of World Tourism Day.

During the official flag-off of the cleaning exercise, Monday Bwambale Grivazio urged the business community in Kasese Municipality and surrounding areas to maintain a clean environment, as it is key to attracting customers, especially in hotels and other businesses.

Participants in the cleaning effort, including Sarah Ithungu Masereka Baleke, the proprietor of the Mountains Girl Initiative, highlighted the importance of keeping Kasese clean for the visitors attending the celebrations.

According to her, Kasese is home to numerous tourism sites that should be promoted and preserved.

Civil society organizations, including the Red Cross and local school children, also took part in the cleaning activities.
