A 24-year-old casual laborer was found dead along a roadside in Kabale Municipality after a night of heavy drinking, sparking a police investigation.
The deceased, Timothy Kamugisha, a resident of Kabale Municipality, was discovered at dawn on Tuesday at Igabiro Cell, Mwanjari Ward, Southern Division.
Police say Kamugisha was last seen on Monday night, August 11, 2025, at a bar owned by Docus Akampurira, where he was a known regular. Witnesses reported he arrived already drunk but still managed to drink alcohol from friends. When he became too dizzy to stand, patrons carried him outside and left him lying on the veranda.
At midnight, the bar shut its doors, leaving Kamugisha unattended. By 6:40 a.m., his lifeless body was found sprawled along the roadside.
Kigezi Region Police spokesperson Elly Maate confirmed the incident, saying officers processed the scene before transferring the body to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem.
“Investigations into the exact cause of death are ongoing,” Maate said.
