Panga-Wielding Thugs Kill Guard, Hack Businesswoman in Brutal Kabale Robbery

Police say the scene was processed and documented, and the body of the deceased transferred to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem.

Police in Kabale are hunting for three unidentified men who hacked a security guard to death and critically injured a businesswoman in a violent robbery at Makanga Cell, Central Division, Kabale Municipality.

The deceased has been identified as Stephen Natamba, 40, a security guard at Albertine Hotel, while the injured victim is Loyce Kanyoro, 59, a businesswoman and resident of Makanga Cell.

According to police, the assailants, armed with pangas, attacked Kanyoro’s home at around 3:30am on Wednesday morning. They reportedly killed the guard before turning on Kanyoro, whom they repeatedly cut, leaving her with multiple injuries.

The attackers then made off with a 49-inch Samsung television, a mobile phone, and other household items.

Kanyoro managed to alert her son, Rodgers Kanyoro, who rushed to the scene. He found the security guard badly injured and rushed him to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

His mother was also evacuated to Rugarama Hospital, where she is currently admitted in critical condition.

Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed the incident and appealed to the public to volunteer any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.

“Inquiries are ongoing, and we call on anyone with information to come forward so that the culprits are brought to justice,” Maate said.
