KABALE: The Kabale Resident District Commissioner, Godfrey Nyakahuma, has given an ultimatum of 14 days to the kiosk operators at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital in Kabale municipality to evacuate or face legal consequences.

According to RDC Nyakahuma, investigation has revealed that the kiosks have been implicated in the illicit trafficking of government property, including vital medical supplies, out of the hospital premises. Nyakahuma says that this reckless behavior has directly contributed to the suffering of patients, depriving them of essential healthcare resources.

He revealed that some government items have been discovered within these kiosks, prompting questions about the means by which they were obtained.

Nyakahuma stressed the urgent need to address this issue promptly. He underscored the importance of implementing effective measures to prevent further exploitation of resources meant for patient welfare. In a decisive move, he threatened to formally notify the Town Clerk of Kabale municipal council, granting the kiosk owners a 14-day ultimatum to vacate the premises and cease all unlawful activities.

Nyakahuma also said that the kiosks had turned into drinking establishments, attracting intoxicated individuals who disrupt medical operations within the hospital.
