She sustained injuries and was immediately rushed to Kampala International University Teaching Hospital in Ishaka for further treatment.

On Friday, Honorable Nyakikongoro shared on her X (formerly Twitter) account that she had been discharged and expressed her gratitude to God for a second chance at life.
“I have been discharged, but healing is a process. I need more prayers during this period, and I know that the God who saved me will heal me quickly. Thank you, God, for giving me a second chance to serve you,” Nyakikongoro said.
She added, “I want to thank God for saving my life and those who were with me in the car when the accident occurred. Ndyakusiimanta Ruhangawangye.”

She also expressed her appreciation for the medical care she received, stating, “I feel fortunate to have received treatment from such a skilled and caring team. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, therapists, and support staff at Kampala International University and Kampala Medical Chambers Hospital. Your expertise has been crucial in my recovery. Dr. Joseph, Dr. Linda, Dr. Alex Bangirana from Mulago Hospital, and Dr. Odwee from KIU, thank you.”
Honorable Nyakikongoro also acknowledged those who rescued her at the accident scene.
“To the rescue team at Bugongi where the accident happened, especially Mr. Musoke, Pasias, Amon, and Mayor Control, and everyone who assisted, thank you all,” she noted.

She further extended her gratitude to her family, saying, “To my family members who were emotionally affected and had sleepless nights by my side, thank you for the love and care you showed me. I am forever grateful and indebted to you.”
She also thanked those who visited her in the hospital, adding, “I am so grateful for your physical presence, support, contributions, and prayers. To everyone who called, sent messages, and prayed for me, I thank you.”
Honorable Nyakikongoro assured her constituents that she would return to her duties once she fully recovers.
“To the people of Sheema, I am aware of your concern about my health. I shall be back on the road as soon as I fully recover to continue the work I have been doing and to advocate for more services for us,” she said.
