Victims of child abuse received long-awaited justice on Friday, 20th June 2025, following the successful prosecution of Ugandan social worker and teacher, Tukwasibwe Junior, who was convicted on 13 charges related to child trafficking and operating an unapproved children’s home.
Tukwasibwe, under the guise of running a Community-Based Organization named Educate a Child–Street Children Uganda, sexually exploited several children and manipulated them with threats of losing scholarship opportunities if they resisted.
The prosecution, led by Chief State Attorney Joseph Kyomuhendo and Senior State Attorney Marion Ben-Bella, will present sentencing submissions on 24th June 2025, before Trial Judge Justice Richard Wejuli delivers the final sentence.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) reaffirmed its commitment to combatting human trafficking and protecting vulnerable children from all forms of exploitation by ensuring that offenders are held fully accountable under the law.
