KISORO: Police in Kisoro District have arrested two suspects and are pursuing two others in connection with allegations of homosexuality and human trafficking.
The Kisoro District Police Commander, Ben Niwamanya Kashumbusha, confirmed the arrests during a press briefing at his office in Kisoro Municipality on Tuesday. He stated that the two suspects were apprehended at a hotel in Kisoro town.
The suspects have been identified as David Ntihabyose Fressian, a resident of Nyakabande Sub County, and Manirakiza Fideli, from Kabaya village in Kisoro Municipality.
According to police, the suspects still at large include Damiyano, a student at Kabale University and a resident of Rubuguri Town Council, and Nsimiye Lawrence, a mobile money agent in Kisoro town. A manhunt is underway to bring them to justice.
Niwamanya explained that the suspects lured a young man from Bukedea District by offering him a job opportunity at a hotel in Kisoro. Upon his arrival, the victim was directed to stay at a hotel in Kisoro town, supposedly while awaiting further instructions regarding the job.
However, the suspects allegedly coerced the victim into engaging in homosexual acts. The victim reported the incident to Kisoro Central Police Station after escaping the situation.
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly admitted to engaging in such activities. Niwamanya urged residents of Kisoro District to refrain from immoral behavior, warning that it could lead to legal consequences.
