Floods Force Chibumba Primary School Candidates to Sit PLE Exams in Church

Primary Seven candidates at Chibumba Primary School in Chahafi Town Council, Bufumbira East Constituency, Kisoro District, were forced to sit for their Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) in a church after the school was submerged by floods.

The school serves as a PLE center for Gisereri B Centenary Primary School, Ryarusozi Primary School, and Butooke Primary School. According to the school’s Deputy Headmaster, Francis Nizeyimana, five classrooms prepared to host the candidates were submerged following heavy rainfall on Sunday night.

He said that the situation left them with no choice but to have the candidates sit their exams at Chibumba Church of Uganda parish.

He appealed to the Ministry of Education and Sports and the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) to find a permanent solution, noting that flooding has consistently disrupted school activities whenever it rains.
